Adverting to my letter of the 19th instant I now

have the honour to inform you that the Hong Kong

Manila Cable has been repaired and reopened for

Traffic, thus restoring direct telegraphic communi

cation with Manila and the rest of the Island of

Luzon.

I expect to learn very shortly of the restora-

tion of direct communication with the Islands of

Panay, Negros and Cebu, when I will advise you of

the same.
